Shoppers who visited a Zara USA store from August 17, 2014 to August 27, 2019, and chose to have an e-receipt printed could be in line for a free payday thanks to a class action lawsuit. The class action lawsuit against Zara alleges that e-receipts from the time period listed actually printed the first six digits of customers’ credit and debit card information instead of obscuring it. This violates the Fair and Accurate Credit Transactions Act, and each customer could be compensated from $100 to $1000 for each violation!
The deadline to submit a claim in the suit against Zara is August 22, 2019. The final approval hearing will be held August 8, 2019. If approved, settlement funds will be distributed around 21 days after the final hearing. The
Zara has 2,000 locations across the world, with shops in 88 countries. Zara’s products have come under fire a few times, notably when a handbag that was for sale included a swastika, and when a toddler t-shirt closely resembled the clothes worn by Jewish concentration camp prisoners.
