Name that Character!

I am in the process of outlining another WIP. I’m currently stalled on my historical romance, and instead of wasting time just twiddling my thumbs I’m going to at least lay the groundwork for another project. It is a straight historical once again set in the Deep South in the 1850s.

This is a novella about a cotton plantation owner who learns the value of family. It could be the start of a series. So this plantation owner, who is married with a grown son, is very important. This plantation owner is not a mean man. I consider him fair but he lives by the rules of the Southern aristocracy. Having a good standing in the community and giving the busy bodies no reason to gossip is very important to him. This older, upright man who has a distant relationship with his son and a strained relationship with his wife needs a name.

Guess what? You have the opportunity to name him. Please comment with a first and last name.

About Haley Whitehall

Haley Whitehall lives in Washington State where she enjoys all four seasons and the surrounding wildlife. She writes historicals set in the 19th century U.S. When she is not researching or writing, she plays with her cats, watches the Western and History Channels, and goes antiquing. She is hoping to build a time machine so she can go in search of her prince charming. A good book, a cup of coffee, and a view of the mountains make her happy.

    1. Do you like Scrivener, Alexander? I’ve looked into it but that’s as far as I’ve gotten.
Thanks for contributing so many names! Sometimes I know the name of a character before I even start writing, but sometimes names are elusive and they are very important to the character’s identity. ;)

Arnett Rhodes is a nice name…

  2. Jack Parker
    Alexander Parker
    Addison Taylor
    Gideon Baxter
    Michael Evans
    Spencer Alexander
    Emerson Davis
    Preston Moore
Just a few of my ideas!!! How fun to let your fans contribute ideas.

    1. Thanks Shannon for sharing your ideas. I love fan feedback. Writing doesn’t need to be a solitary craft. It is more fun when it is a joint effort.

I like Preston Moore and Jack Parker. Maybe the son’s name should be Preston…

      1. I love when authors ask for their fans help. It makes you feel like you might have given them just a little inspiration. Preston was the name of the first boy I ever kissed and the last name (parker) for the other one is one of my sons names.

        1. Yes, authors need a little inspiration at times. Thanks for explaining your history with the names Preston and Parker. Now I’m wondering if I should save Preston for one of my romance ideas…
